As outlined in the “Concept Overview” section, Christ Centered Career Groups is intended to fill a void for many who are unemployed. Most churches in the United States have many church members who are in career transition or are mis-employed (over-qualified, under-qualified, and simply unhappy with the work they are doing). Some of these churches may be conducting networking meetings or seminars to help those who are unemployed and there are also numerous community-based programs that can assist those who are unemployed. The gap that we have identified is that often, those that need these programs the most are not making good use of the resources available, largely because they become overwhelmed by the challenge that unemployment represents and they often don’t have a personal support mechanism that both educates and encourages them to make use of these resources.

The tools and recommendations outlined in the attached PDF document are intended to help the person or church organization that either has a current networking program or is interested in starting a ministry that serves the unemployed. This program can be started with little to no money and with a minimum of volunteers. The C3G approach intends to provide unemployed group members a practical, emotional, and spiritual support through weekly, 2 hour small group meetings and other one-on-one meetings that facilitate relationship development, encouragement, individual and group accountability, prayer, and also represents an opportunity for service by caring Christian friends. The goal of the program is to shorten the time to re-employment and help the career searcher to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior.

The attached document outlines the steps to starting or extending a local ministry. It includes the following sections:
• Suggested steps and agendas
• Questions and lessons learned
• Guidelines for a safe and supportive group
• Key roles and responsibilities
• Other ideas to consider
